sewn-up

Do you know how to use a sewing machine but are not sure what to do next?

Why not look for some lovely fabric for a skirt or top and I'll help you make it.

Maybe you'd like to learn to use a commercial pattern or you've tried but are bamboozled by the jargon.

Please let me know if there is something you would like to do and I can give you an estimate of time needed (and cost) to complete your project.

techniques

Do you have a sewing machine that's gathering dust or seen some lovely fabric that would make the perfect cushion cover, but you don't know how to get started?

Book a lesson with me, Amanda, and I can help. Take a look at the options below and use the contact form or phone to book. Before you know it, you'll be running up a summer skirt or a pair of curtains over the weekend!.

All classes are arranged at your home - I will come to you, anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire, (or further if expenses paid) and classes can be for one to four people. (discount for three or four)

I can provide equipment and materials if needed but we can discuss this when booking.

Please take a look at what you could do below.

1-to-1 sewing tuition 'tailored' to your abilities. Even if you've never sewn a single stitch I can show you the basics to get you started on your first project. I can provide the sewing machine, and everything else you need to get started. Or if you'd rather, you can buy the fabric, thread and other trimmings and I'll provide the equipment.

If you have a little experience but want to try something more ambitious but don't have the confidence then I can help you increase your skills with the trickier aspects of dressmaking.

All you need to do is provide a bit of space for cutting out (e.g. a table or floor) and somewhere to work, such as a dining/ kitchen table (or even a coffee table)

All classes are priced at £25/hour

  • inserting a zip
  • buttons and buttonholes
  • loops and ties
  • gathers and frills
  • ...more to come, watch this space!

each of these classes can be taken separately , one hour at £25/person,

or combined as a two and a half hour session at £55/person (up to 2 people only)
